The Leather Weather

Mumbai, the city of dreams, is where I have been born and brought up in. I cannot even think of moving to any other city in India. Despite of the traffic issues and other flaws I still happen to love every bit of this city. This is unconditional love you see.

We Mumbaikars die to feel a little winter chill. The temperature here is never cold enough for its residents to own a fancy pair of gloves or warm boots or woolen stockings and long ‘Sherlock Holmes’ coats. As much as the fashion addicts here enjoy the summer in hot shorts and off-shoulders, we long for a weather to bury our bodies in multiple layers of patterned clothing. If we ever plan on going to a hill station to feel some snow, going on a special ‘winter shopping spree’ to the malls is mandatory. Oh and once back, those fancy winter wears stay in the closets untill the next snow trip happens. I’m not complaining but I would love to have coffee with gloves on, at Band Stand and do some ice-skating at Marine Drive (Can you imagine what frozen Arabian sea would look like?).

Well, back to reality, in the months of December and January, luckily the weather gives us the privilege to show off our fancy jackets for sure. My main winter craving is a perfect affordable leather jacket. Do you know how hard that is to find? My friend got lucky as she found a perfect affordable faux leather jacket and I couldn’t stop but blog about it. If you own a leather jacket that you have always dreamed about, either you got lucky or you must be filthy rich. As a student I do not believe in investing ten thousand bucks on a leather jacket especially when you are a major shopaholic.

A leather jacket is a must in one’s closet. We Indians have the luxury to pair up warm leather jackets with hot shorts, in Mumbai at least. A little warm up there and cool below kinda balances the heat flow you know. A leather jacket has always been a style statement. Be it the 80’s or the 21st century, this piece of beauty never seems to fail.

The baseball tee seems to be so sporty yet girly and most importantly comfy. The shoes are a treat. They have heels and you can literally run in them. Isn’t that a girl’s perfect fantasy? To find heels to run in? The shoes go with everything. Be it shorts, skirts, and even on some dresses. The plus point of this look is you barely need much accessories. The black hot shorts were actually a pair of jeans which I happened to crop off into hot shorts when I was bored (I do that a lot).

Enjoy this “Leather Weather” while I hunt for my favorite piece of leather. Well, I just hope to find my leather jacket before my “ice-skating at Marine Drive” dream comes true. Till then let’s just wait for the weather to make us say “Thand hai bey!”.
